For a Mothers' Day art and music show this spring, I contributed one of my drawings of a pregnant musician playing music to her unborn child. I'm working on a collection of these. But, in this particular show, there were too many pictures already about pregnancy and birth. So, I went next door to draw my neighbor, Katryna Nields, and her daughter, Amelia Nields Chalfant, making music together in their home.

Katryna and her sister, Nerissa Nields, have a book out
and a fine blog
about making music as a family.
Belle Amie, Amelia Nields Chalfant and Isabella Deherdt, opened for the Nields on October 8 at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA.
Amelia, 10, and Isabella, 13, met at a music summer camp at the Institute for Musical Arts in Goshen, MA. It is a rock and roll camp just for girls. Amelia and Isabella have now been playing together for a year and a half. The duo took the stage, handled their instruments and gear, and performed original songs and covers with professional confidence and skill.

There's no web site yet, and they are not allowed to have a Facebook page yet, but keep an ear open for Belle Amie!
