Peter Stampfel and the Ether Frolic Mob, 07.10.09
Sometimes I like to stitch my individual drawings of a big group together, like Annie Liebowitz’s Vanity Fair covers:

Peter Stampfel and the Ether Frolic Mob plays monthly at Jalopy. This was the first time I attended, although I was already familiar with almost every artist onstage from their various other gigs.
Fearless Leader, Peter Stampfel, center stage:

And, from stage right to left:

Jane Gilday, 07.10.09

John Cohen and Annabel Lee, 07.10.09

Walker Shepard and Hubby Jenkins, 07.10.09

Hubby Jenkins and Eli Smith, 07.10.09
If the evening was something short of “tight” musically, the madcap spirit onstage made it work for me. And it was certainly a treat to see all these amazing musicians together.
