Tuesday, June 30th, 2009Pina Bausch, the German choreographer and Artistic Director of Tanztheater Wuppertal, died today of cancer. She was 68. If you are here reading this blog, it may be because you picked up my sticker/calling card, below. The illustration is of Bausch’s “Bamboo Blues,” which was presented at BAM last December.

Comic Strip Serenade
Friday, June 12th, 2009On June 7th, I really enjoyed a program of songs based on comic strips, published as sheet music to be enjoyed at home back in the ‘teens and ‘twenties of last century, before radio was even very popular. There were lots of artists in the audience, and lots of ukuleles on the stage.
