Franglais and some drawings from March

Franglais playing on April 16, 2009 at Jalopy
Franglais. I enjoy them more each time I see them. Incidently, they seem like nice people, too. Left to right: Justin Lees, Piruz Partow, Eve Seltzer, and Ben Wood.
Going back now to March…

Matt Jones
03.05.09: This was a Hooklyn Holler program. The first Thursday of every month features songwriters. Above, Matt Jones. Next, Alana, who appeared with a full band. Who don’t appear in my drawings, unfortunately. Not their fault.

Alana, on March 5 at Jalopy

Tom Bailey and the Annex
Tom Bailey and the Annex on March 8. They were just great.

Tony Scherr on March 9
This is a study of Tony Scherr, who is in residency at Jalopy every Monday night. The same band (with occasional variations) on the same stage regularly… well, each week you are going to get a richer result. I’m speaking both of the music and of my drawing! I’m working on a finished painting of Scherr and his band, and this is just one study.

Bust of Thomas Jefferson that sits on the Jalopy stage, downstage right
This is the bust of Thomas Jefferson that sits downstage right on the Jalopy stage. Hey, he’s hard to draw! Tony Scherr often remarks that this guy makes him nervous. He’s intense, all right. Always there, providing a nice visual non sequitur…
